Atlus announces Soul Hackers 2!

Article by: Kyle Tander

With the 25th anniversary of the Persona franchise coming up, Atlus has come out and announced a new game that isn’t the rumoured Persona 6. That game is Soul Hackers 2, which is a surprise in its own right as it’s a sequel to 1997’s Devil Summoner: Soul Hackers, it’s also one of the most obscure spinoffs for the Shin Megami Tensei series.

You’ll play as a team of Devil Summoners or Soul Hackers in this game, working to advert an apocalypse that will affect both the real and digital world, using the power of demons to assist them. The game will also bring a tech-fueled occult-Matrix idea for the world.

Like most Shin Megami Tensei or Persona games, you’ll be collecting demons to add to your compendium, fusing demons together to create even stronger demons and dungeon crawling. From the look of the trailer, you may be able to roam about the city when you are not dungeon crawling, kind of like you can in Persona 5.

Surprisingly, Atlus has gone and decided to release Souls Hackers 2 on PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X. This is something Atlus never do, as they always stick to a single console release, then maybe release it a couple years later on PC, though I am still waiting for Persona 4 Golden to show up on the PlayStation store. Unfortunately, the Nintendo Switch will not be included in the release of the game, and it’s uncertain if it will ever be released for the platform.

Souls Hackers 2 will be released on August 26th, 2022.
