Forspoken Delayed

Article by: Kyle Tander

Square Enix and Luminous Productions announced yesterday that Forspoken would be delayed from its original date set for May 24th pushed now to October 11th.

On Twitter, the development team cited in its statement that they wanted to spend more time polishing the full game. The statement reads:

“We have made the decision to move the release date of Forspoken to October 11, 2022. Our vision for this exciting new IP is to deliver a game world and hero that gamers across the globe will want to experience for years to come, so getting it right is extremely important to us. To that end, during the next few months we will focus all of our efforts on polishing the game and can’t wait for you to experience Frey’s journey”.

Now most gamers have come out saying that this is a knee jerk reaction by Square Enix, saying that this is in response to the poorly received Babylon’s Fall. Babylon’s Fall had Square Enix teaming up with Platinum Games in their next attempt at a live service game, that has been met with unfavourable reviews. Most stating that it is just uninteresting, cookie cutter combat, with the overall experience being nothing special.

The extended wait might be disappointing to a lot of people, but at the same time extra development time is never a bad thing.
