REVIEW: Hatsune Miku – Project Diva F (Japanese game)
Summary: Miku is back and this time she is joined by co-vocaloids Luka, Rin, Len, Kaito and Meiko. They star in this J-pop rhythm game, with customisable anime idols performing for your enjoyment. This PS3 version is an enhanced edition of the PS Vita game released in August last year, and it’s region-free so you can play it on your Aussie console. It boasts better graphics, seven new songs and a live stage section similar to Extended Dreamy Theater. Kawaiii!!!
The Good: Musically, it holds its head high with an incredible database of catchy, well-written songs. The animations and dance routines are incredibly choreographed leaving fans of Japanese pop culture in heaven with this deadly moe combination. If the addictive gameplay isn’t enough, you are also given the ability to customise each and every character with tons of costume alternatives. You can also get up close and personal with the Vocaloids with rooms for each character. Here you can play mini-games, decorate their dorms and even celebrate birthdays.
The Bad: Because this is a Japanese-only title, the DLC characters and songs are unavailable in Australia :(. At the moment the whole game is in Japanese, however, screen translations are available online. Lastly, for anyone with the Vita version you are unable to sync your save file between versions unless you have a Japanese PSN account.
Final Word: Project Diva – F has taken me in heart and soul. It has broken through the void of my top 50 games of all time and made it way into my top 10 games of this generation. It goes without saying this game has ticked all of the correct boxes. If you like fan service and rhythm titles Hatsune Miku – Project Diva F is for you. You may even find yourself buying and downloading the sound track so you can relive all of your favourite moments on your way to school or work.
